Little horsekids

The big kids are all riding independently now...but the little ones are are doing awesome too!

A four year old leading a 2 year old through the woods....she did this the whole ride, not just for the photo.

This little man going out for the first time without a side walker...the smile was HUGE!

They are all hard workers

I just love watching the youngest starting to play TOGETHER, imaginative games...too cute

Undersea art

I try to set up an art project on horsekids day. The kids are usually here for several hours and many like art so they can go to the art studio anytime to work on it.

First blue paint was sponged onto blue construction paper.

Then some green sponged over the blue.

Then we used yarn to make seaweed...fun!

I cut out different fish shapes, in different colors for the kids to choose from. Stick them on the painting while it is wet...no glue needed. Then add some additional seaweed over the fish and paint the fish if they want.

Beatin' the heat

Living on the Cape, the heat wave is not as bad as the city...but it was sweltering. So, we jumped into the Jeep and drove out onto the beach.

Sandy Neck is our spot of choice, right here in town.

People come here for vacation, we are lucky to live here and come down anytime.

We discovered our shadow...

dug in the sand...

built drip castles...

drawing ...

walking along the 7 miles of beach and dunes...

watched the shore birds...

and sea life...

we stopped at a tidal pool, warm, shallow and fun to play in,

Scout always finds time for yoga.

Always different

Wednesday's is horsekids day. The kids "pay" for their horse time by cleaning the paddock and caring for the horses. After that the choices are theirs.

They learn to ride..

once they can ride on their own...they all can now...

they can ride as long as they want.

Then they are free to do what they want...this day it started with music!

Then water play!

They will play for a couple hours, together, boys and girls, all ages together. Creating games...

laughing, developing friendships, helping each other...

learning...while living...and playing
