Hidden Hollow

We visited Heritage Gardens Hidden Hollow for the first time this year. We expect to come often, it is right here in Sandwich, so we got a membership.

I was so inspired, last year, by the natural play stuff. I wanted to create this in our yard.  I got distracted by all the toys that are tossed out in the dump. Now there is lots of toys for the kids to play with but, it is all plastic. I am happy we saved them from the landfill but not happy with how the yard is looking. I am going to try to get back on track. I hope you get inspired by Hidden Hollow.

Lots of different play stations.

A weekly theme, this week rhododendrons.

Simple water colors...

A day in the life

I blog about this a lot, I am doing it again, a tiny helper. Scout loves to help, she feels so proud, she is learning so much and she is such a good helper for a momma with one arm!

We have lots of tools just her size.

She is passionate about animals. Here she is grazing her pony.

Helping me with the weeding.

Frequently she will be found without shoes.....or pants!
This time it is because she peed on them. She is perfecting her skills at peeing in the grass...by herself!

An empty sled after feeding hay.

Each morning she brings the compost out.

Going to check for eggs.

Putting air in her stroller tire.

Raking up the hay.

Cleaning manure.

Brushing the horses.

There is lots of play in between. Reading and taking her doll on  a "trot, trot to grandmas house".

A nap usually happens here.

Exploring

Practicing the barrels.

Climbing trees.

Trail ridding.

Being silly.

Hanging with Daddy.
Life is Good!

Nantucket Mothers Day

This post is a little late....but being one handed, left handed, has slowed some things down a bit!

We ALL headed to the island for the weekend, a two hour ferry ride, which is part of the fun.

The weather was beautiful.

We started by just playing in the garden. While Zach and Sam visited the The Cisco Brewery.

Scout did some push-ups

Stopped to smell the flowers

and some yoga at our good friends beautiful home.

Scout gets her first art lesson from the master, Ritch Leonie.

The home of an artist is a fun place to explore. This is one of his lightship basket frames. The only person in the world to make them.

A arrived at our egg hunt party with this little basket for Scout. Such a lucky girl!

We drove to Sankaty lighthouse.

And were excited to discover one of the two days a year it is open was Mothers day....the other is Columbus day.

The lighthouse was moved about 100 yards because the beach is erroding away.

The original spot.

On our way up!

Can you tell we are excited!

They even let little Scout make the climb.

The original whale oil light, now an automated light has replaced it.

Rose, with some landscape in the background.

Foggy days like this are why you need a lighthouse!

This is the complete skeleton of a 46 foot bull sperm whale that washed ashore on New Years Day 1998. You can find it inside the Nantucket Whaling Museum.

Heading home

I HOPE YOUR MOTHERS DAY WAS AS AWESOME AS MINE!!
