Paddling

I've been gone for several weeks (from blogging that is). I was just spending too much time doing it and wanted to be outside doing other things before the heat of the day. I have lots to blog about so they will show up, in random order, but I will try to catch you up on our adventures.

We started 2 days of paddling with an evening paddle at Scorton Creek with some of our unschooling friends.

We met one hour before high tide to give use plenty of time to explore the marsh.

The marsh is a series of water trails to explore.

It is a great place for beginners and young families.

We keep toys, scoops, nets, floating toys and little paddles, all tied to strings, to keep little paddlers busy.

A big floppy hat keeps the sun off the face.

Of course, never set out on an adventure without snacks! I remember Zach would go on any adventure as long as there was a picnic at the half way point.

Yes! those are paddlers.

Daddy, always there to take us where we want to go.

We finished the evening with a picnic dinner and land play.
And ice cream, of course.

The next morning we headed to Groton, MA to Nashoba Paddler. We have been looking forward to seeing Sam again. We haven't seen her since Zach left and we have a paddle together today.

The Nashua river was teaming with wildlife. Here is a beaver lodge on the bank of the river.

Colorful water flowers.

Entering the Dead river, searching for turtles.

Our host, Diane, was a wonderful tour guide.

Some of the wildlife we would have missed without her! A sure sign of a healthy river ecosystem.

There they are...turtles!

Thank you Diane and Pete, we had a great time!

We miss you Zach!!
